This month's meeting of Ale Atlanta is
on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at
"the5,West", 1000 Marietta Street NW,
Atlanta GA 30318, at 7:30 PM.
Although March is the traditional month for the Ale Atlanta
St Patrick's Irish Beer Meeting, and we will be tasting
Irish Red Ales and Dry Stouts, having
just returned from England and "Owen Ogletree's Beer Death Race 2010
Tour", I have to ask our Irish
Brothers to show some forbearance, as we will be tasting in
addition to our more common Irish
Beers:
British Beers you have never known,
Vintages you
have never tasted, and
Freshness you
have never encountered!
Among the beers that I spirited away in my bag on
my trip home from England are:
Marston's Owd Rodger, a 7.6% Strong Ale
brewed on the last existing Burton Union system.
Fuller's Vintage Ale, 1999, a bottle
conditioned 8.5% strong ale.
Gale's Prize Old Ale, 2008, a bottle
conditioned 9% strong ale.
Harveys Imperial Extra Double Stout, a bottle
conditioned 9% Russian Imperial Stout
Fuller's ESB, an 5.9% Extra Special Bitter
fresh off the shelves at the Fuller's Brewery Shop.
We will taste these in addition to our regular St Patty's Day
fare:
9D. Irish Red
Ale. Some commercial examples include: Moling's Irish Red Ale,
Smithwick's Irish Ale, Kilkenney's Irish Beer, Beamish Red Ale, Caffrey's Irish
Ale, Goose Island Kilgubbin Red Ale, Murphy's Irish Red (lager),
Boulevard Irish Ale, Harpoon Hibernian Ale.
13A. Dry Stout. Some
commercial examples include: Guinness Draught Stout (also canned), Murphy's
Stout, Beamish Stout, O'Hara's Celtic Stout, Dorothy Goodbody's Wholesome Stout,
Orkney's Dragonhead Stout, Brooklyn Dry Stout, Old Dominion
Stout, Goose Island Double Stout, Arbor Brewing Faricy Fest Irish Stout,
Avery Out of Bounds Stout.
Ale Atlanta is a beer appreciation and
social club. There are no membership dues. Just show up thirsty,
and bring some interesting beers to share with the group. It is just a
bunch of beer lovers getting together to enjoy quality beers and quality
people.
Don't like Irish Reds and Dry Stouts?
Just bring in your favorite beer to share with the
group!
Just bring something!
And be sure to "BE HIP and LEAVE a TIP!"
And remember, Thursday is always
CASK NIGHT at
"the5,West".
